Is this real?
Tomorrow is my 4 week mark. It means I will now have 4 weeks and 6 days left in dk.
I can't believe I wont be here much longer.... Infact I cant even begin to comprehend it. Its like my real life is slipping away through my hands and I cant catch it. New Zealand feels like unreal. Its strange. It feels like i've been living here my whole life then again there is NO WAY that it has been a year, the time has just gone way to quick. I feel like I my family now is my family, like i've been adopted. I cant believe that I will soon be seeing nelson people... Its like i've left had the funeral and have moved on and then all of a sudden they're all alive again.
I can already imagine how annoying being with my parents is going to be. Infact I just dont want to think about it. A year with a quick hello e.mail here and there to "you have to be home at 10pm" Its going to be hard... Then there's university. I want to be there now. In some ways I just want to go back and have the best summer getting drunk on the beach with my best friends taking photos... then again I feel so passed that. I'm like split in two right now. Half of me is ready to have dance parties, roadtrips and sleepovers, and sneak out to the beach at 2am to meet with guys and go for missions like old times.... Then the other half of me is wanting to go out for dinner and then go clubbing and spend a night out and then go to bed and sleep or host dinner parties. I dont know I feel like i'm in the transition where I either need to let loose and have fun or mature up and move on from my childhood.
I'm torn in two.

Wondering...
Do you ever just find yourself so lost in thought that you wonder if other life forms exist?
At the moment this topic is heavily on my mind. I'm reading Dan Browns book Deception Point and they have just found a meteor that has massive fossilised bugs encrusted in it. The Universe, I am terrified of.
I'm not asking what the meaning of life is but seriously Its just too much to be able to handle and take in. The vastness of the Universe or Univi (plural of universe hehe)... I cant comprehend that I am made up of atoms living in a world with 7 other billion people on a planet with millions of billions of other things on it, in the solar system amongst probably billions if not trillions of other solar systems. How many earth like planets with life on them are there?
I have to apologise for not updating sooner... I have been travelling ALOT and well have only just gotten to a computer with some spare time! Hope you all keep reading!
Anyway I do have something extra special for you! My friend just linked me to this guy and he is really raw but does his own backings and basically comes up with this little beauty:
Bernhoft - Cmon Talk
Hows things with you?
Lots of love,
H.

Travel lykke!
Sorry for not having posted in a while, things are just getting SO busy. It's fantastic!
This wed, I am heading to Belgium! Is it even possible to be this excited?? Imagine seeing your best friend after only having facebook as a means of communication for th past 9 months! I am on the verge of bursting with excitment, and even better I get to go and check out Belgium too!
Mannekin Piss Here I Come!
I guess I haven't been the best with Explaining about what life is like for me in Denmark, so i've decided to put up some pickys of things like food etc.. Hopefully its a little taste into what its really like here!
This danish dinner is probably the most typical. Itscalled Frikadelle (frag-a-della) and is pretty much meatballs. You have it most commonly with mashed tatties, beans or some brocolli and brown sauce (gravy).
For every dinner time, we eat as a family by setting things out on the table and its normally a smorgers board of food, so you just take what you want and then start eating! There aren't many dinner table rules, e.g you dont wait for everyone to sit down you just start and you dont have to ask permission to leave the table you just do. Also I'm not sure if you guys know this or not but there is no translation for please. The danes simply just dont use it. This took a little bit of getting used to especially when my 7 year old sister is wanting food she would simply say I'm hungry I want... or get me... And its not considered rude its just the way its done. Pretty crazy to get used to, but in my first host family, they told me I had really good etiqute and they were going to try and be more polite. It made me pretty proud that they wanted to learn more things etc, But they were already lovely!
People here are very upfront and dont often hold back from telling you things. If theres a problem or if somethings wrong or something bad / good is happening they will openly tell you about it. There isn't much secrecy which is nice!
Danes are also very very open to sex. Its a commnly disccused topic and its 'normal' for people to have boyfriends over to stay as young as 15. Its very accepted into society and normal. Also the drinking age is young. Boys and girls generally start at the age of 14 and go to parties with alcohol their parents have supplied for them. BEER is the biggest thing here. I remember a few weekends ago I went to a bar at around 3pm (not to drink just to meet some friends) and there were people already drunk and planning on doing body tequilla shots. CRAZY! And that is considered normal. They really know how to party the danes, being one of the countries with the highest alcohol consumption, they go all night! I remember my sister once went out at around 6pm and ws back at 10am the next morning. In saying this though, they (denmark) really do know how to look after their people. They have one of the highest tax rates, but therefore dont pay for school, university, hospital/doctors fees, If you become unemployed the government will give you money until you get a new job and as of 18 years the government will pay you a small salary for living at home. They really are well looked after and i'd say 99% of people have homes and schooling and jobs etc. So its an interesting country I do think. Its almost like putting black and white together and we'll they've I guess made grey and are happy with it. It really does work well for people here and everyone is well looked after. Their shit really is together and I think alot of contries can look at this and have a think and compare with some of their priorities. In saying all this though, you cant get a license until your 18, and alot of children have big responsibilites thrust apon them at a young age. Its all a matter of opinion, but statistically Denmark has it pretty sorted. ¨
Hope that one day you get to come and visit and let me in on your interpretations of it!
Hers some more danish things:
Hope this is a little interesting!
I'll take HEAPS of piccys of Belgium to fill you in on my crazy adventure there
Much love and peace to you all

Fantastic friends
I honestly am so blessed to have the best friends and connections with people in the world.
Yesterday I met a girl in town, who I had only met once before briefly. We went around Herning looked at some shops then got lunch. It took I'd say 10mins of us being together before we were chatting away like best friends, telling each other our life stories and discussing philosophy and interpretations of the world. Honestly I am so amazed at how two people just connect at such an intense level so quickly its almost indescribable. Also the fact that Its almost too coincidental to be real, to both come to the same city in the same country and attend the same language school, when were from different ends of the world. I honestly wonder how life works. Everyone has a story, everyone has skeletons in their closets and out of the 6 billion people in the world you will only ever know 100 people max closely enough to hear their stories and share yours and become connected on a deeper level. that's 0.000001666666666666666666% of the population. So I always think its magic to find people you do that with in the most queer of incidents. Life is fantastic.
So this weekend has been a goody for sure!
Today me and my sisters just goofed off playing army, and football. Was great fun and I love them heaps!
Uni apps are open and i am just SO excited i can barely contain myself! I'm thinking positively without any doubt in my mind and what happens is meant to be! I will get there eventually! my tickets are all booked for Belgium! Totally over the moon about that!!!! Although karameas a bit of a dozy when it comes to plans so we'll see were I end up hehe <3 And next weekend is the school fest and this guy i met at this bar is going to be there so we'll see what happens ...
Hope you had the best weekend
lots of love

Hump Day... hehe
Well I don't know how but this week is slipping by so fast, I can barely get in a breath!
Good news on the bike outcome! They got insurance and so my sister ended up with a new bike which is awesome for her! I think she's really happy about that! So in a strange way it was a blessing in disguise. Hmm maybe every cloud does have a silver lining after all....
Today I have language school after real school so i don't get home until about 6pm Its a long day and I'm going to be so tired.I should probably go for a run too! Got to get motivated.
My application has finally bee n completed for halls of residence so I'm totally over the moon about that! really really really am hoping i get in more then anything!
Things are starting to look up!
Okay so i know its cliched but its brill and a classic for days like these, because well its the truth!

Mixed feelings...
Well what a weekend I've had. Seriously though, how is it possible to have the best and worst days of your life in one weekend?
The party on sat, was just fantastic! was really really great and once it had finished, my sister and i went to the city and went clubbing, anyway we ended up at this really hygge bar called petit. Its just kind of one big smoking room but the music was real laxed and everyone was just chill as, having a good time. We spent a few hours there and then at 4am, was time for beddy byes.
Sunday (today), I got up and had a shower like normal, then decided what to do with myself and came up with making cupcakes, (which are usually my speciality), however today they didn't go well at all, the whole process was out from the start. I screwed up the icing and the dry ingredients that it just wasn't good at all. Then to make matters about a gazillion times worse, the bike I had used the day before to get up to the train station (my sisters bike) got stolen. Yep some insane devil child decided it would be a wonderful idea to leave an innocent person bike less. What a dick. Anyway I think the fact that my sister had trusted me enough to let me use her bike, and then me be the one to loose it was really just the most awful thing. I felt so much disappointment in myself, scared that she would hate me (this wasn't a cheap bike either).
Today was pretty hard, I must admit. But there are always going to be days like this. Its the getting through and accepting them that's the hard part, but by the end, its all in the past. You cant change what has already happened you can only look at what you can do now to prevent further happenings in the future. Its a mistake to learn from and although It was a horrible and sad one to make, at the end of the day I could buy her a new bike, luckily she has insurance so that will cover it and in the meantime all you can do is say sorry. Even in the worst situations there's always something you can do, even if it doesn't prevent it straight away, the best thing to do is to try and move on and know that tomorrows another day. <3
Here's a song that always helps me through really difficult times. Okay I know its a little, well heavy, but seriously it really does help!
Lil Wayne feat. Eminem - Drop The World
Hope your weekend was better then mine,
Lots of love always

Party, Party, Party!!!
This weekend I'm heading to my friends 18th Birthday party! I am insanely excited and in Denmark, your 18th is your biggest so it makes it more fun and special! You have to do 18 shots and Its when you get a car and license, so everyone really gets into the celebration, I cant wait!!
A little Auzzy kid (13), came and sung at our school yesterday. I was rather disappointed because all though he was a good singer and was only 13, he just lacked that extra something to make him special. He was a full on copy of Justin Bieber, down to the fact he put out a chair and got a girl up on stage to sing to her... A little disappointing and lacking originality, but was nice he wasn't too shy.
I'm just booking flights to head over to Belgium! I can't wait and I cant stop smiling!
Hope you have a great weekend! Oh and even more so, check out the danish band Ginger Ninja!!! They are really really really great! Loving their stuff so much right now! And if you love road tripping this is the perfect song for the summer time!
Here's their song:
Ginger Ninja - Sunshine
Have a wonderful weekend!
Much love,

Dinner date with Panic!
Well tonight me and two of my girlfriends are going out to dinner and a movie!
First time this WHOLE year!! Insane isnt it.
I am extremley excited and can't wait to just have a girls night out full of fun and laughter!
Nights like these always put me in my happiest moods! I feel they just mean so much more. Back in Nelson (my city in NZ) My dad and i used to host old film evenings. We have this really gorgeous cosy little deck that we chuck tonnes of pillows and mattresses out onto and get all our friends and family over, have movie nights under the stars while dad works the vintage projecter. Great great memories!
Anyway another memory i have is of me and my best friend karameas car journeys. We would always go on weekend trips together with our families, weather it was camping or renting an old batch we used to love it! Anyway so the car rides there, normally took a few hours, so we would either start singing randomly and spend the few hours it took to get there singing our heads off, or listening to panic at the disco, who were our complete and utter love, so i dedicat this post to panics first c.d which is our favourite <3
Panic! at the Disco - But It's Better If Your Do
Check them out, they are really fantastic and the lyrics are completly crazy but spectacular too

Musik love
Well what can I say? I'm a long time lover of the Whitesnakes so I guess they have to feature in here sometime soon so why not now? <3
Check out their favourite song of mine!
Whitesnakes - Here I Go Again
Also recently a friend of mine faceyd me telling me to check out this guy called Newton Faulkner.
His musics really chill and hes well known for his talented guitar playing as it involves him tapping the guitar rhythmically and finger plucking. I think his sound is a little like jack johnson (who is also a fantastic musician!) but still containing that really soft laxed feel to it.
Heres his link check him out and let me know what ou think of him!
Newton Faulkner - Lets Get Together
Hope your weekend was lovely!

Wanna jump in puddles?
Today I was told something that I thought was extremly interesting. It has been the rainiest summer ever recorded in Denmark since 1870!!!!!! can you believe that?
Fortunataly for me I love the rain. Falling asleep listening to the hooves of dancing horses on your roof while you drift into a wonderland. I know its silly to say, becasue rain hassels so many people here, through the long winters people actually start to get a little crazy and go into depression mode from so much winter weather and with it being dark cold and stormy literally all the time. But give me thunder, a monsoon and a little warm house with a fire (or more modernly a heatpump) and steaming hot choco with mini marshmellows and I am one happy chap! But thats not the only thing! I know i'm going to get alot of hate and strange faces for saying this but really I pefer the winter time to summer any day. I love the warm jackets you wear, I love that everyone is bustleing around trying to stay warm and dry it almost seems buzzing. A complete contrast to the warm lazy summers i've experienced where people are too relaxed to really care. Definataly a winter girl. Same with cats. Definataly a cat girl too. Although admittidly my favourite animal is kinda strange. Its a stingray. I dont know why but I love them. The butterflies of the water!
Oh and guess what I have a new band for you to check out!!
They are called The New Cities. They're a Canadian synth pop/dance rock band that are up and coming already having gaind alot of canadian fans.
I think they're going to become really big globaly as they are really catchy and easy to like. Although not alot of their songs are what I would call individual and new they still have a good beat and are good for when your just hanging with friends or want to have a little fun getting crazy partying
Check them out!!!
The New Cities- heatwave
Hope your week is going sweel!
Much love,

Glitz, Glamour, Fashion
Wow!
Last Friday I was lucky enough to attend the Tecko Fashion Show held at Shu bar in Herning. It was so great! Pernille Møller was walking, and guess what else she goes to the same school as me!! Can you believe it! I still am in awe of her and when I see her in the corridors this little voice pops into my head saying "omg shes a model hermione a real model!" I get so excited and almsot a little starstruck! Insane isn't it. But she takes the most beautiful, artistic photos!
This weekend has been a really nice one. I had alot of fun with my sister at the show, Went and ate a lovely dinner and dessert at my farmors house and then took my little 7 year old sister to the swimming pool. Such free flowing easy weekends are fantastic when your a little sleep deprived and dont feel like doing alot!
Not really looking forward to an early 6am start again tomorrow though... Really wish I had a car and license here!
I think as soon as I get back i'm going to take my dad on a road trip and drive to Chch stay a night and then drive back the next day with a ton of fruit, candy and peanut butter sandwhiches (they dont have peanut butter in Denmak, crazy I know! ). What better way to catch up on everything thats happened this past year! Also a chance to get my driving back up to speed so I can finally after 3 years get my full license.
Its strange what the future holds. Alot of people think that we are destined to do things, like we have a set path. I think we make it as we go along. Thats why you have to live every moment of every day. Okay so the cliche' Live like its your last day alive, isn't really what i'm talking about. More like just having the options infront of you and picking the ones that fit at the time, taking a risk here and there (when appropriate of course) and just living. Thats my philosophy. You live once. Feel the fear and do it anyway. And i'm not saying that for you believers that the big guys not out there with us every second watching out for us and loving us. I'm just saying that I believe it in a different way. I think thats a little like me and religion in general. I almost pick out the things that I truley believe are right and real, and peace them together to make my own version.
Anyway whatever you believe as long as you live life to the fullest and dont hold back then I think your living the best life you can.
Love you,
H xx

Indie pop love
Just recently I was busing back from bio camp, when one of my friends turned to me and gave me her head phone and said "what do you think of this song?". Like that it was love at first... hear : )
It was The Smiths, an old english indie pop alternative band from the 80's. Big in England but unfortunatly not as much global success, yet they still managed to get 4 albums out!
It was a rare moment for me, as I usually take a bit of time to really get into things like music and art, I'm not someone that looks at something once and immediatly I think the world of it, except for a few occassions like this one.
Its rare ocurences like these that I live for. Discovering new things by ways such as a simple gesture from a friend, but its more then that. Its when you first hear, see or do something and you instantly know its just meant to be. These moments I like to treasure becasue there when your most happy. Its like finding a special secret hide away, or place that you believe noone else in the world knows about and its just yours and you control it. Life is wonderful like that. The treasures we pay nothing for but mean the most.
Sometimes when i'm in a certain mind space, and I realise i'm in a moment thats extra special, I like to just sit back and just think really thoroughly about whats happening arond me and how lucky I am to be experiencing it. Its not normally ever anything that seems that exciting, just simple things.. the joys of life some people would say, like having a picnic or getting given a flower.
The little things like drinking tea, listening to music and eating lollipops
The smiths - There is a light that never goes out
Check out The Smiths!
Happy listening
Lots of love,
H

Theres nothing like a Spring weekend
Well this weekend really was delicious! It started off with me waking up at 6 am to go for a morning swim only I then remembered that chlorine wasn't good for new tattoos, so I decied to hop back into bed and listen to the rain. Mmmm I love lying in bed listening to the rain more than anything else in the whole wide world. Its so peaceful and relaxing and even though its raining, I can never be in a bad mood when snuggled in bed all cosy and warm. Luckily enough I was able to drift back off to sleep and have a few extra hours. Then after havng an extra lazy morning and drinking some tea, Tea in bed on a rainy sat morning I mean come on it couldnt have been better! The sun broke out and It turned into a beautiful day! What are the chances? One of my best danish friends Amalie, she is a sweetheart, came around and it was just the best fun... Its funny how much you miss just having your friends around you all the time sharing lazy weekends together just talking and laughing! She had just got this really good new camera so we went on a walk and took some pictures for the blog, and as soon as we had finished it started raining so we rushed home laughing and wet and came home to an already made dinner by my beautiful sister Mathilde! Seriously I cant think of a better day! The evening was the best though. It consisted of some really in depth talks, just what I love more then anything, long into the evning with some candy and flødeboller (hope thats spelt correctly) discussing life and our opinions on everything, It was sooo insanely nice to do after not having done it in sooo long.
Sunday morning was equally as special, sleeping in after having to wake up at 6am for school each morning is just fantastic! Me and Amalie both weren't that energetic so we just relaxed and listened to some really good chilled music and discused life drama and boys.
Then to make it even better I made cupcakes.
The perfect end to a perfect weekend <3
Hope yours was just as good
lots of love,
H

People always leave
Have you ever had that special feeling, that gives you butterflies everytime you see a certain person? Well I have. There's this one boy, hes really cute and I love his style, to me hes like perfection, and every time I see him I just get this excited choked up feeling. I thought we were getting to know each other in the 'more then friends' way and everything, until I went on holiday and since then we havn't talked at all. In some ways its okay becasue I leave in 3 months so nothing is going to ever come of it, but I still just don't know what to do about it. It seems that people are always leaving around me, and if its not them its me. My two best exchange student friends have both left, and my best friend has just gone to Belgium. All my friends I make in Denmrk are almost like temporary (as horrible as that sounds), I feel its almost crazy to try and get close to people here, I mean in the end i'm probably never going to see them again. Why does this always end up happening to me? Its like everytime I get close to someone, it somehow gets ruined by the fact that one of us has to leave... Then to make matters worse as soon as I get back to New Zealand all my old friends that I finally am reunited and were thinking everything is great and that nothing will bring us down, except then a little thing called university happens. Then I guess the whole process starts again, making friends finding people to love and then you will get a job half way accross the world. Hmmm maybe i'm just going to end up lonely and own lots of cats... : )
I hope this starts getting easier, my hearts not made of stone...

A little bit of Leather.
Today I was day dreaming, I love day dreaming!, trying to come up with some new and exciting ideas for you to read. I thought that alot of people do fashion blogs with their main focus being vintage preppy, floral. Thats realy cool and everything, but I wanted something a tad different and a little more risky and fun. I'm going to try and amp it up a bit with some music and leather!!!! Leather. well I am in love with it. Atm i'm looking for an old style mens bike gang jacket! I'm hoping to pick one up in a thrift store, but as you know the good things go like that. Hopefully though if I just keep looking I'll be lucky enough to find one!
My friend Amalie and I are getting together this weekend to try and take some cool pics for you guys. Shes an upcoming photographer and really has an eye for wiked as Vintage stuff! So I hope you enjoy them! I'm planning on doing a few music reviews or just blogging about some of my favourite music. Music is a really magical and special thing to me. My dad has brought me up on it especially seeing as hes a musician himself. Theres a really really fantastic upcoming Danish singer called Oh Land. I will post a link with one of my favourite songs by her. Shes a really indie pop singer and her music is really light and floaty, really good for just chilling and relaxing. Check them out! I love them and hope to see them in concert soon!
Cant wait for you to see the pictures!

Finally here!
So as i'm completly new to this i'm still learning the ropes of the trade, but i'm so excited to finally be online and posting about my life, and everythig that gets thrown into it.
I am on an exchange in Denmark and its all very crazy and wild! The danes LOVE to party and so the atmosphere is just really chilled and always exciting and fun.
I absolutly cant get enough of travelling! I love it. So far i've done a little and have been to France, Paris and Venice, Italy! Although i havn't even been to Copenhagen! (the cpital of Denmark) yet, But hopefully i'll be there in the next few weeks!
Talking about travelling though... TRAINS. Oh gee they are Terrible! Back in New Zealand we dont have trains as a public transport system (at least in Nelson we don't) and so i am terrified of them, and they are never joyful to be on and I always seem to end up sitting next to the overweight sweaty guy, that i have to slide down next too. Not cool.
Anyway enough about silly trains, and back to the blog!
In this blog i'm going to write alot about interesting things that happen to me and what i'm feeling or thinking and how i want to live my life. I will uplod some pictures of my days and school and other fun things so hopefully you enjoy!
Happy reading
